ANIMAF Awards
ANIMAF Awards is an independent otaku-made online awards that would give recognitions to outstanding Live-actions and Japanese animated films each year. The main objective of the event is to share some knowledge to people about anime and live-action films, especially those that are not well-known to many.
Requirements
- The film must be released in Japan from July 7th of the first year, up to July 6th of the following year.
- Only Japanese animated films are able to enter, no series, specials, OAVs, nor ONAs.
- Live-action films can be from any country as long as it’s based on a Japanese manga or anime.
FAQ
I choose the films by:
- user reviews and ratings, from AnimeNewsNetwork, IMDB, and other review sites
- how they were accepted in Japan, or around the world; if they were screened internationally and maybe was nominated/won an award; I also use Tokyo Anime Award, Animation Kobe, Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, and Mainichi Film Awards as a reference.
- and lastly, the film’s plot, I like something that’s unusual and of course interesting.
I decided to relate the awards to my site (afufu.net) which was published in July 07, 2007.
The judging will be done by me, wolf, the webmaster. I don’t trust people’s choice that much ’cause I’ve actually tried that style a couple of years back, and the results were plainly biased. And if someone would be a judge he or she should have able to watch every movie nominated.
I’m not sure if I can contact other people that easy, so to not give myself a hard time in terms of communication, I’ll just do everything myself.
Because for me, every anime is a winner in that category. Whether it’s done in cell or 3D, as long as it fits the anime, then it should be perfect.
Most likely every May-June of each year.
