Shiro Sagisu, the brilliant composer of Evangelion soundtracks, has won the award for Best Music category in this year’s Tokyo Anime Fair. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, character designer of Evangelion has won the award for Best Character Design, but it was for Summer Wars.
Evangelion is truly considered a legend/classic in the land of the rising sun, just like Michael Jackson to the whole world.
Amazon.co.jp retail website has announced that it received 88,000 pre-orders for the Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Ha) film on Blu-ray and DVD within a week of February 8, the day it started accepting orders. 40,000 of those pre-orders came on the first day alone — topping the 30,000 that Michael Jackson’s This Is It film received on its first day of pre-orders. The BD/DVDs will not ship until May 26.
Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone and Evangelion 2.0: You can (Not) Advance will be screened in Glasgow Film Festival this coming February 15, 2010. The two movies will be shown consecutively starting with the first rebuild at 15:30 Time.
Yesterday (Feb. 07, 2010), Ponyo by Hayao Miyazaki was screened at the festival.
The Japan National Tourism Organization has collaborated with GAINAX to create the “Evangelion Hakone Instrumentality Map: English Version.” For the English version, the JNTO translated the original map and re-edited the information to include points of interest for overseas anime fans. Gainax placed Tokyo-3, the fictional setting of Evangelion, in the Hakone area. A Lake Ashi poster featuring Rei Ayanami was also created to attract tourists:
