Studio Khara has announced on Tuesday that this Friday’s airing of the Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone film will be an unedited “TV version” — one that is different from the versions already released in theaters or DVD, and even Blu-ray Disc.
I don’t know if it’s for the sake of advertisement on TV, for the people who haven’t watched 2.0, or anything — just anything that involves money, a LOT of money. If ever the ‘unedited’ version comes to dvd, I feel sorry for the hardcore eva fans in Japan. I mean for those who just download the video, there’s absolutely no prob, they can just simply delete whatever version they had, and replace it with the newest. But for those who are buying every single version of the movie, oh man, I pity them.
The only positive reason I could think of why Anno, and the rest of Studio Khara’s staff needs tons of money is for the production of Eva 3.0. Maybe they know the third installation would be longer and requires more flashy animation.
Evangelion 2.0 successfully reached the #1 spot in the box office in just 2 days! The movie has earned 512 Million Yen so far, which was about twice of what Eva 1.0 earned in its opening weekend last 2007. Falling from the top spot was ROOKIES: Graduation, and at #3 is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
