The first live action adaptation of the shōjo manga series by Yoko Kamio premiered in year 1995, starring Uchida Yuki in the main role.

It was then became a popular Taiwanese Drama called Meteor Garden (2001). In the Philippines, the four main male characters, with a band called F4, had a sold-out concert. Due to the popularity of the series throughout Asia, two sequels, Meteor Rain and Meteor Garden II, were produced.

On October, 2005 a Japanese live-action drama series was created. Season one of the live-action drama ended in December 2005, spanning nine forty-minute episodes (with an hour-long final episode special). In January 2007 TBS began airing season 2 of the live-action drama, which spanned 11 episodes and concluded in March.

The second live action movie, called Hana Yori Dango Final takes place after the events of Hana Yori Dango Returns and stars the same cast as the TV drama. Following the press conference to announce Tsukasa and Tsukushi’s wedding date, his mother presents Tsukushi with a family heirloom: a tiara called “Smile of Venus”. When the tiara is stolen by a mysterious man in black and the crime is subsequently covered up, Tsukasa takes Tsukushi on a wild adventure around the world to retrieve it. The film opened in Japan on June 28, 2008.

The latest adaptation would be a Korean Drama.

The IFMagazine.com entertainment website reports that film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly) is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise’s Cowboy Bebop multi-genre action anime series for Fox. Stoff told the website that the project is “in the really early stages” since the parties “just signed it the other day.” Shinichiro Watanabe’s original anime follows the motley crew of the spaceship Bebop as it travels throughout the solar system in search of the next job. Stoff promised “a real degree of faithfulness,” and added, “When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A Scanner Darkly, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”
