Changing your personality in a short period of time is really impossible.

Aries confessed that he was deeply saddened by the departure of Ms. Loida from the batch, especially because he said awful things about her. Because of that, he’ll get rid of the ‘Crazy-Aries’, the one who’s showbiz-like, papansin, etc. Well that sounded great until he saw his winning outfit from the first challenge.

Before I continue, here’s the list of the models with their corresponding designers:

Ava was the last designer to pick from the two remaining models. Unfortunately for Anna, Ava chose to stay with her model. That decision made Anna the first model to be eliminated from the very first season of Project Runway Philippines.

Now that they have their models, the designers went back to SoFA. There they saw Sir Jojie, he introduced them to the co-founder of SoFA which is Ms. Amina Aranaz-Alunan. After that, he announced what’s their next challenge is.

Challenge: Take an inspiration from the work of an iconic Filipino designer.

Some designers got excited when they heard the name of the icon who they’re going to take an inspiration from, but some had a blank face, simply because they are not familiar with their assigned designer. Luckily, the students of SoFA helped them gain knowledge about each legend through a limited time. After the designer’s one-on-one session with the students, they went to Metro Gaisano to purchase everything they need. They were all given Php 2,000, and 15 minutes to shop.

Back to the workroom, Aries saw his winning outfit from the last challenge beside Ms. Loida’s dress. He literally talked to his ‘military-inspired’ jacket, saying that it should wait for its sibling, ’cause it’ll come later. He then moved Ms. Loida’s dress to the corner ’cause he doesn’t want it to be anywhere close his apparel. Just imagine how would Ms. Hunter feel after seeing that! Ava on the other hand can’t take the pressure of the challenge so she went out for a while to take away some stress. Then came the time for Mr. Jojie to consult each designer’s work. When Eli was about to explain his dress, he mistakenly replaced his icon’s surname ‘Espiritu’ to ‘Santiago’. Meanwhile, Lorymer described his dress as “Draga”, ’cause that’s what Eli told him. (Draga, is a short term for “Drag Queen”.) Now to Ava, Jojie approached her and told her that her garment doesn’t look like Muslim-inspired, instead it turned out like its style is African-like.

Before the runway, Eli mentioned what Aries thinks about Ivan. Aries told him that it’s sad ’cause he won’t make it. He replied saying “No, Ivan is like the undiscovered talent, no one can embroider like that.”

By the way, I noticed that Eli now has a close connection with Ava and Winnie.

Then came the time for the runway…Teresa’s dress color was blue again, and it looked like it was inspired by a spaceship.

The guest judge for this challenge was Ms. Amina Aranaz-Alunan. A bag designer, and finding director of SoFA.

My ratings:

High:

• Mara -Her design was young, and like Rajo said, “the most improved“.
• Philipp -He modernized a 70’s design, and with the addition of feather hair piece, it was very obvious that it was inspired by Auggie Cordero.

Average: Charette -Neat design on the shoulder, and has a cool color combination.

Low:

• Eli -Wrong choice of fabric, and as Apples said, he took the inspiration literally.
• Lorymer -Poor construction. He tried to make a couture dress but failed.
• Ava -Amateurish design, and no inspiration at all.

The judges favorites were Veejay, Mara, and Philipp. All were applauded for making a dress that fully shows the legend’s design assigned to them. In the end, it was Philipp who won, with comments from the judges such as “It looks like a million dollars.” and “I fell in love with your gown.” said by the guest judge. Philipp cried, not because of joy, but because of the judges’ comments saying that it’s not everytime a designer is on the hot seat.

Eli, Lorymer, and Ava got low scores. Rajo’s comments to Eli’s dress were “mali yung tela, mali yung tabas, mali yung kulay, mali, yung styling mali, isa pa yung nakakatakot“. Ava’s outfit looked like a rag, and Lorymer’s was just plain disaster, even he knew it. Worst thing, he made taffeta looked cheap.

Jaz’s gown was very clean, but the inspiration and her style looked separate.

Winner: Philipp
Out: Lorymer

For the next challenge, I have a feeling that it’ll be done by group. Looking back on the original version, everytime the number of competitors hits 12, that’s what about to happen.

Aries: There’s a big difference.

Eli (talking about Aries): I think Aries is really, really annoying. I just can’t look at him…If I’m his mom/dad, I’m gonna spank him all day.

Eli: Mine is Christian Santiago.
Jojie: Espiritu.
Eli: Ah Espiritu. Oh my god!

Ivan: Okey lang po ba?
Jojie: Eh ano pa magagawa ko?

Lorymer: Draga yung ginawa ko. Sabi ni Eli “Draga”.

Ava: I didn’t anticipate the stress level of this competition.

Philipp: Gumanda ang katawan ng model dahil sa damit.
Model: Grabe ang tira dito!

Rajo (to Lorymer): Baka multuhin ka ni Ernest.

Jaz: I love it.
Eli: Oh my god!
Jaz: Oh my god! You are so plastic!

Lorymer: Bring home the crown.
Philipp: Yes, I will, anak!

Lord (after his ‘beso-beso’ with Lorymer): Chismis ‘to sa Mascara.
