Jojie Llorel, the mentor, visited the three finalists in their homes to see the current status of their collections for the upcoming finale. First stop was in Makati City where Veejay Floresca resides. Before everything else, Veejay gave Jojie a picture of the two of them as a Thank You gift. Then they went to the workroom to start the one-on-one consultation. Jojie liked the palette Veejay used, but worried about the entire collection, not being close to 50% done. For the reason Veejay didn’t have any specific inspiration, and didn’t do anything for a whole one month. Veejay also told Jojie that he’ll be happier if Aries or Philipp win instead of him.

From Makati, Jojie headed to Parañaque City where Aries Lagat is currently working in his Ben 10-inspired collection. Aries was supposed to be with his family in Iligan City, but there’s a war there so his friends Jerome and Heidi offered their house to assist him. Also, an unfortunate thing happened to Aries’ relatives in Iligan, both his great grandfather and uncle was shot, and their house was burned down (R.I.P.). Back to his collection, he explained his idea as an alien woman landed down to earth, where she had a suit that can morph to any futuristic fashion. Jojie added that it’ll be better if there’s some light shades to his collection. Aries agreed, and said that his final three pieces are a surprise. From Parañaque, they headed to Malate, Manila to meet Mr. Ben Farrales who offered Aries a scholarship.

From the islands of Visayas, Jojie went to Look, Lapu-lapu City, Cebu to meet Philipp Tampus. When he got there, he was welcomed with open arms by Philipp’s family, and had a traditional Filipino lunch. After having their meal, Philipp took Jojie to his workroom which is his sister’s office room. Philipp’s collection is the total opposite of Aries’ inspiration, which is vintage glamour. Jojie suggested to make his pieces cohesive to make it really look like a collection. After the consultation, Philipp let Jojie meet another set of crowd, who were his buddies and his company while watching Project Runway Philippines on TV. Lastly, the two went to Lapu-Lapu shrine to do some sight-seeing, and there they also parted their ways.

Eight days before the big finale, the top three returned to School of Fashion and Arts. There they had the usual consultation with Jojie on their own workspace. Jojie had the same concern for both Aries and Philipp, which was about a single outfit that needs some editing. And to Veejay, he said that he only needs to polish the clothes. From SoFA, they headed to a hotel room, where they would be living temporarily. First to arrive was Philipp, being the winner of the last challenge he gets to choose his own room, and the rooms of the other two. Second to arrive was Veejay, and lastly was Aries who got the least finest bedroom.

After relocating, they headed to a place where they would have a model casting. Philipp’s in a good roll ‘cause he’s the first one to choose from the set of models, second was Veejay, and again, Aries was the last. While the model casting was going on, Aries set his eye on this one particular bald model, he asked the other two if he could get her, both party agreed, but not until it was the time to choose their 12 models. While they were putting the pictures of the models under their names, Veejay put the image of the model Aries wanted for himself under him. Aries was of course irritated, but he just cooled down realizing they’re in a tough competition. Now came the time to know the sequence of who’s going to present first. Coincidentally, nothing changed, it was still Philipp - Veejay, and yet again - Aries. Though this time, Aries was comfortable being the last.

From model casting, they went to Jigs Mayuga and his friend to talk about the idea for the hair and make-up of their models. Aries’ color of choice was dark brown and black, for a dramatic eye. Veejay wanted his models to look very fierce. While Philipp chose a soft, light make up for his models. They then went back to the hotel to end the busy-day session.

In the morning, they went to SM City Marikina where they met Teresa and Mr. Tonichi Nocom. There, they were given a bonus challenge, which was to make a 13th outfit, specifically a men’s wear. All I can think of, was the second season of the original Project Runway, where the winner, Chloe Dao, cried down to tears. Luckily, just like from the original version, the three finalists were given a helping hand by giving each of them a designer of their choice; Lord for Philipp, Mara for Aries, and Jaz for Veejay. The winner will have his collection sold to SM Ortigas and at the same time displayed to SM Makati.

The Finale will be shown tomorrow, at its usual time slot, Wednesday at 10 pm.

The first clip showed us about the judges Rajo Laurel, an international Filipino fashion designer, and Apples Aberin-Sahdwani, who started out in the fashion industry at an early age of 16. It was followed by Jojie Lloren, who I taught was chosen by the producers instantly, but wasn’t. Sir Jojie, like the aspiring designers, also entered the audition stage to be the mentor of the show. Lastly, Teresa Herrera, a model/actress, who became the host of Project Runway - Philippines edition.

Now came to the nationwide audition, first three were Loida Hunter, Jaz Cerezo, and Ava Paguyo, who wanted to join PRP, ’cause she was rejected for Philippines’ Next Top Model. Followed by the four guys from Visayas: Lord Maturan, Lorymer Villareal, Philipp Tampus, and Bo Parcon, who got puzzled and excited when they were told that they’re IN. And from Mindanao: Aries Lagat, and Ivan Raborar, who was very formal, or maybe just nervous in his audition.

The last five were chosen from Manila, who were: Winnie Chua, who thinks she could do better than some of the contestants from the orginal show; Eli Gonzales, who was forced by his sister; Veejay Floresca, who seemed to have a speech ready for his audition; and the last two were Charette Regala and Mara Reyes.

Original planned script for the opening sequence:

Teresa: This is Project Runway Philippines, the competition to find the Philippines’ next big fashion designer.

Ivan: (didn’t get what he said)

Teresa: Fourteen designers.

Winnie: It’s gonna get wild!

Teresa: Three finalists.

Loida: It’s anybody’s game.

Bo: I’m in it, to win it!

Teresa: Who will show their collection in Philippine Fashion Week.

Teresa: Receive half a million pesos.

The next clips were about the meeting of the designers, summary of some memorable portions of the show, unseen funny clips (especially the runway of the judges, where Jigs played as Eli, Rajo as Aries, Teresa as Mara, and Apples as Jaz). It was also revealed that it was Rajo’s birthday in the Beverly Hills 6750 challenge, so he took the designers to a club and had fun all night long.

Last, but not the least were all about the three finalists, and their collection.

I’m so excited for the Finale.. well who isn’t.

I’m going to be straightforward… I think Eli won not because of him being a designer, but because of him being sorta attractive. When I’m researching PRP on the net, there were bloggers who were like leaders of an Eli Gonzales fan base, telling how hot he is, and encouraging people to vote for him in the Fan Fave Promo. That’s not a bad thing to do, but what’s sad, was when some people followed it, not because they voted Eli for being skillful (or kind), but only because someone else told them to.

In my own opinion, I think either Ivan, Philipp, or Jaz deserved to win the Fan Fave Promo. Ivan, is sweet and kind, also known as the fastest sewer in the batch. Philipp always have a helping hand for his fellow designers, and Jaz had a clean record, not until she was eliminated. So my point is, if there’s still going to be a 2nd season of Project Runway Philippines, and they’re still going to have this kind of contest, please vote only after you’ve seen all the challenges. And don’t be hypnotized by other people, vote for the designer you think is the best. Lastly, no offense to John, nor Eli (I know he won two challenges.)

To the main episode…

Before the Top 3 were called out, Teresa asked first the 11 designers how their life was when the show was airing. Each of them had a story to tell, like Ms. Loida getting a job, and Ivan having a close relationship with Ava’s friend, etc. Mara was also asked how she felt not entering the Top 3, she said it was fine, though Ava said she was sad, coz she was expecting Mara to represent their club.

When Teresa asked the designers if they’re ready to see the three finalists, almost everybody said ‘yes’, except for Eli who said ‘noooo’. So then, Aries and Veejay, the representative of Mindanao and Luzon respectively were called out, almost no one clapped, not until it was Philipp - the representative of Visayas, came out. And it doesn’t stop there, when Teresa asked Aries, Veejay, and Philipp how they felt being a part of the finale, they were all silent when Aries and Veejay answered, but when it’s Philipp’s turn, the other designers started to cheer for him again. Favoritism are you there?

A clip was then showed, a clip I would like to call “Jojie moments”. It was fun watching it, especially when Sir Jojie put a voodoo doll in Ivan’s dress. After that, it was followed by a clip showing the ‘best fights’, as said by Teresa. When it came to that part, I literally cannot watch the show directly, so I just looked on the side, and listened to the ongoing conversations.

Then came to the part I’ve been dying to see - Eli confronting the judges. The moment Teresa said “Well. I think it’s time you tell them yourself.“, Eli’s reaction changed from being confident to getting nervous, and there was Jaz - just smiling beside him, I was like ..Oh this is Great! So both Rajo and Teresa came out, they first told the designers they were just being honest and doing their jobs, nothing personal. Charette then asked them an interesting question, which was “What was the best and the worst design you’ve ever seen in the runway?” Rajo answered he liked the wedding challenge the most, and the worst for him was the vision challenge. He didn’t point out any specific design, but Apples did. She said she liked Veejay’s wedding gown, and she hated Eli’s uniform. Ava then asked the two if they were sad or super sad when she and Ivan were eliminated. Apples replied, saying she was super sad, and even cried for two days, with that Ava felt really glad.

The climax video for me was then showed, it was when Eli said negative things about the judges. There was a shocking clip that wasn’t shown in any episode, it was when he told Rajo to wear a bra. And so the clip ended, the judges just laughed about everything Eli has said. Thankfully everyone was a good sport. I myself wouldn’t want to see any sort of fighting, like I said in the “fight clip” portion of the show, I can’t stand to watch it that’s why I looked the other way. The judges understood Eli being very reactive and emotional. What I really liked was when Rajo said: “The ability to laugh at oneself is more important.” And the fun part was when Teresa said to “Suck it up.“, Aries jokingly said the same thing.

Time for the positive moments, the “praise my work” clips were shown, followed by the comedy ones. It was revealed that it was no other than, the cameraman who shocked Philipp, simply by saying “Hello Philipp.” with his manly voice.

The winner of the Fan Fave Contest was then revelead, who was Eli, and the lucky John Trinidad who was able to meet all the designers, and received tons of gifts. Eli was not the only one who got a prize, ‘coz all the designers were given a Michael Kor’s watch from Watch Republic.

Jojie then asked them, among their fellow designers, who would they want to work with. Veejay said he would like to work with Aries and Jaz again, while Philipp would like to work with young designers like Mara, Lord, and Lorymer. And the most interesting for me was when Aries said he would like to work with Mara. I would love to see their collection, Aries’ great pattern design plus Mara’s dark and gothic taste would definitely come up with something new.

To the end of the show…

The three finalists were asked to leave first so they could discuss about the upcoming competition. When asked about who the designers think will win, most of them answered Philipp, except for Bo who voted for Veejay, and Mara who was amazed with Aries’ thinking process.

Next will be the ‘flashback’ episode, and while we were watching it, the producers are getting ready for the final runway on October 23 in Philippine Fashion Week - Spring Summer Collection ‘09.

If I’m going to be face-to-face with Rajo, I will tell him not to wear anymore knitted shirts, if he doesn’t want to show his man-boobs. Because he keeps on hiding like doing like this, and it gives him like cleavage. I can’t sleep at night thinking about it, cause it gives me nightmare, So please, wear a bra.

Rajo: Sweetheart, if you don’t like my man-boobs, it’s all right cause…
Eli: I have it too.
Rajo: Yes, yours are just more firm.

Rajo: The ability to laugh at oneself is more important.

(NEW YORK) Looks like we’re not the only country addicted to Project Runway: This season marks the inaugural of the show’s Philippines version, and Rafe New York designer (and native Filipino) Rafe Totengco has been asked to guest judge the finale on October 22. “I started watching the show on YouTube and became obsessed!” Totengco said. “I’m thrilled to be judging the finale, especially for the inaugural season. It’s going to be difficult though–these kids are really talented.” Totengco, who opened a Manila boutique earlier this year, will be judging alongside model and fashion editor Apples Aberin-Sadhwani and designer Rajo Laurel.
