This year’s 17th issue of Shueisha’s You magazine has revealed that a live-action television drama series of Satoru Makimura’s Real Clothes fashion manga has been green-lit for an October premiere. The story centers on Kinue Amano, a drab, lowly saleswoman stuck in the futon department of a giant Tokyo department store. Kinue’s life — and fashion sense — change when she is moved up to the high-profile, high-stress ladies’ fashion department.
Makimura has been drawing the original manga in You magazine since 2006, and Shueisha has published 900,000 copies of the seven current volumes.
The manga was adapted as a one-episode drama special last September, which starred Karina as Kinue and Hitomi Kuroki as her boss. It is not yet known if the new series will involve the same cast.
